2015 Q2 in Review: Fun stuff that happened recently

We’re a few days into 3rd quarter now, and its full on summer here in St. Louis. Looking back, here are a few awesome things about the 2nd quarter of 2015:

  • Kicking off projects with Washington University in St. Louis. I’m teaming up with their University College staff to help them update their branding, and our first couple projects – some print ads at the Muny and online ads on Pandora – are now in market. And lots more to come!
  • Other fun design projects with clients ZeaVision, Pi Beta Phi, Xtra Lease, Doe Run, Sensient, Painting for Peace book, The OASIS Institute, Blank Page Consulting and more.
  • My New York trip! I got to spend time with family and hang out in a city I love. I lived in New York for a couple semesters in college, so it is fun to go back, even if only for a long weekend. There are a few pics over on my Instagram.
  • The discovery of Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara. I loving tubing mascara. And until recently I was paying twice as much, so its nice to find a drugstore brand.

It’s been a great couple months, but I’m looking forward to what is to come, starting with a lovely 4th of July weekend! Once we’ve all enjoyed some BBQ and fireworks and are back to work, don’t hesitate to let me know if you need a graphic designer to help you out.

30th Birthday invite cover

I’m big in Germany?

I was contacted not too long ago by a representative from a German printing company. They had found some of my work online and wanted to feature a custom birthday party invite I created on their company blog.

So, I left my full time job about 4.5 months ago. And whenever I bump into an old co-worker or business associate, they always want to know how I’m doing.

The truth is, I’m doing pretty good. I feel more creatively challenged and excited about my work. Up until now, all my experiences had been working in house. While I enjoyed the process of focusing on one brand and really helping it grow and evolve, I’m finding that I am also enjoy working with a wide variety of different brands. I’ve been working with big B2B companies, small business owners and nonprofits. My design projects span from logos to direct mail to white papers to annual reports. I’ve also enjoyed doing some content creation. I’ve enjoyed learning about all of these businesses and appreciate the opportunity to help each of them reach their goals.

Yes, I’ve also had quite a few days where working from home has meant that I wore sweatpants all day and didn’t leave my house. Some days I miss having coworkers around to talk to when I take a break or walk down the hall. When I work from home, my only coworker has 4 legs and isn’t really the best at brainstorming. But he is cute!

Overall, I’m enjoying the freelance lifestyle. I’m open to a full-time role if it is the right fit, but I’m enjoying this, too!

I’m always interested in working with new businesses, so if you need some help with graphic design or marketing, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
